The Jetsetter Diaries: New York City

Jetsetter Diaries: NYC

I’m sitting on a cross-country flight from San Diego to New York, prayingmy watch would hurry up and tick just a little bit faster. It’s been a year since I’ve seen the beloved and enigmatic city. There’s a passion and adventurous energy In New York City that courses through the streets and touches everyone who lives in or visits this place. The colors, the lights, the kaleidoscope of cultures, languages, and faces knit together a city of endless beauty. Even in spite of, or maybe because of, its less-attractive sides… I’m from a small town in east Texas, so the chaos, noise, and filth overwhelm and stifle my soul. But at the same time, I’m addicted to the streets. My favorite thing to do in the city is just walk around and take it all in. I can't get enough of the messy yet orchestrated dance of crisp business men with glinting briefcases, mingled with weathered homeless, mixed with dolled up fashionistas and sloppy tourists.

Jetsetter Diaries: NYC

There is just something so special about New York City especially in the spring. The streets are peppered with tulips and daffodils in bloom and the people gulp up the warmth of the sun after a cold, dark winter. Every city in our country has its unique quirks, but New York City is the gem of the U.S. What a devastation it would be to lose such a masterpiece. Even here on my flight, it’s different than a flight boundfor any other destination. I’m sitting next to Argentinians, backpackers from the UK are across the aisle, and a woman with a 15lb black cat snuggled up in a baby carrier wrapped around her torso just passed me on her way to the bathroom. Though we’re all ripe with the grogginess of being only halfway to the destination, there is a pulsing excitement in the air.

I’m en route for another year of Yoga Journal Live in New York City, but this year is extra special because it is the last YJ Live event for the year. KiraGrace has been attending YJ Live Events since our birth, and we have developed some dear friendships over the course of all the events the past 4 years. Not only do we get a chance to practice and learn from some of the incredible women on our Global Ambassador team like Tiffany Cruikshank, Elena Brower, and Sianna Sherman, we get a chance to meet the amazing and inspiring women in our community face-to-face.

If you’re in the city, please please please come visit us at the KiraGrace booth! Today is the LAST day. The marketplace is free and open to the public, and we have some gorgeous FREE gifts with purchase to spoil you with. We will be here until 6pm! More details here.
