Another Christmas has arrived at our door, and once again it will depart before we are ready to say goodbye. The definition of Christmas has expanded beyond its Christian origins. Although its religious significance is indispensable, how beautiful is it that this celebration is one everyone wants to take part in no matter their religious affiliations or backgrounds.
THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS
The meaning of Christmas is limitless. Our personal definitions and beliefs could never fully contain its grandeur. It goes so far beyond wrapped packages, Christmas cookies, carols, and brightly decorated homes.
The Grinch learned this lesson in Dr. Seuss' Christmas classic:
"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."

The joy and magic of Christmas is impossible to uproot. It holds an unshakeable magic that softens, soothes, and uplifts... the kind of contagious magic that you cannot help but share. We notoriously call the holiday season the most wonderful time of the year and the happiest season of all, but what is the source behind this wonderful, happy Christmas magic?
Deep down at the heart of the magic and the Grinch's "something more" is the gift of giving. The magic of Christmas stems from the generosity we give and receive from others. We receive a much needed respite after a hard year of work. We get excited to spend time with our loved ones and spoil them with special gifts. We feel inspired to support those in need. We sacrifice more of our time and give more money to charity. All of these things serve to realign our hearts with the the things that matter most in this life. Our focus shifts from work and endless to-dos to the things and people we cherish most.
