Romance is a necessity. There certainly are some bad quality stories out there, but I would say that those great books and love stories are so moving because they do offer us a taste of truth. That's what gives them their powerful grip on our hearts. They don't take us out of reality, they help us see and live our reality so much more fully.

In a world of unhappy relationships and escalating divorce rates, it is all the more important to believe in the reality of love. The reality of its presence for each of us, but also the reality of its nature. Yes there are those wonderful seasons of butterflies and shooting stars, but there are also those times that will push you to your breaking point. Love demands everything from you or it will have nothing at all. It requires the ultimate sacrifice - yourself. As clay pottery is fired in the kiln, love burns as it makes you strong and beautiful. 

So this Valentine's Day, believe in love. If you are in a romantic relationship, squeeze your lover a little tighter. Do not compare your relationship to another's, instead nourish your relationship with words and acts of kindness, belief, and love. If you are single or divorced or widowed, believe in the power that love never fails and it knows no limits.
